This course in the finite element method (FEM) is focused on solid- and structural mechanics and heat flow. The aim of the course is to provide a theoretical understanding of the finite element method along with practical usage of a commercial finite element software. Project assignments are used for illustrating how the finite element method can be used to solve a range of different engineering problems. For example, in the last project, comparisons between simulation results with practical measurements are made.
