Mats Jägstam is Vice-Chancellor of University West

Since August 1, 2023, Mats Jägstam is Vice-Chancellor of University West. He comes most recently from a role as CEO at Science Park Skövde, where he has been since 2020.

Mats Jägstam has a long background in both academia and business with a strong focus on collaboration, which is something he also has a great interest in and which has also been an important parameter in the university's recruitment process and requirements profile.

- The university's strong profile in work-integrated learning and collaboration is something that I am really passionate about. I have always believed that knowledge is created in all different parts of society. It is more important than ever that universities are truly integrated into society - that we create knowledge together. Of course I hope and believe I can contribute with my experiences in the field, says Mats Jägstam.

Mats Jägstam has a doctorate in production technology. He has had several leading positions in both academia and business. Previous jobs include Vice-Chancellor at University of Skövde with special responsibility for internationalization and cooperation, pro-Vice-Chancellor and acting Vice-Chancellor at Jönköping University, CEO at University of Technology in Jönköping AB and CEO at the spin-off company Evoma AB.
