It is the American company Instructure that develops Canvas on the web and the Canvas app. The version of Canvas we have tested is version 6.21.0 released on March 20, 2023. Canvas is managed by the Division of Educational Support and Development at Högskolan Väst (University West). We aim for as many people as possible to be able to use Canvas on the web and the Canvas app, hereinafter referred to as Canvas, and we continuously work by informing teaching staff on how to make their courses more accessible in Canvas.

Accessibility in Canvas

Canvas is a commercial product designed and developed in accordance with the internationally recognized standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The Agency for Digital Government (DIGG) has developed 142 guidelines for websites in public services based on the WCAG standard. It is these guidelines that we have compared Canvas against.
